DECLINE IN PTA / PTO

PTA ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERE DROPS IN PARTICIPATION SINCE THE START OF THE PANDEMIC

Published an extensive overview of how participation of parent organizations in schools in the state sharply declined over the pandemic, a serious matter since parental involvement in a child’s education is the most predictive indicator of academic and social success. We executed a web scrape of the sites for every public K-12 school in the state to see if they had a PTA or PTO organization.

We then coupled that data with demographic data from each school and found that less than 10 percent of schools where half the student population was Black had a PTA or PTO, and that number dropped to 3 percent when at least 75 percent of the student population was Black.
